Bhante Sujatha and Michael Fronczak (Manager and Resident Instructor – Sanatha Suwaya) combined their efforts to collect hair donations from around Sri Lanka in order to help children with cancer through the Wigs 4 Kids organization. This organization provides children fighting this disease with handmade wigs during their struggle towards recovery. Michael himself has donated his hair several times as an example. Unfortunately, Bhante, cannot do the same. This year’s highlight was a local school in Sri Lanka: Kandy Girl’s High School. Inspired by Michael and Bhante’s actions, 400 girls lined up to donate their beautiful hair! What a beautiful gift from the country that is considered the largest eye-donation nation in the world. Completing these actions show that we are inspired by the Buddha’s teachings, and demonstrate our loving kindness.
