We joined the efforts of The Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple to provide 100 water filters for homes in the town of Kanthalai. Sri Lanka has high incidences of individuals with kidney and liver diseases due to the poor quality drinking water in the rural villages. Many homes are either without or have old, poor quality filters.
We are so pleased with the success of this event, but feel it is only an incremental movement in what requires a huge effort. There are several organizations that are at present discussing options for large scale projects, but to move beyond talk, financial support is required.
