Ever striving to use every moment of his time, Bhante Sujatha wanted to spend time in service during his annual visit to Sri Lanka.  To accomplish this he created an initiative to offer support to a school in a small village in the hill country of Sri Lanka called Hedunuwewa.

The school, Central College Hedunuwewa, that was once a model of development flourishing in an agricultural area, has seen a near stand still in growth and maintenance due to the lack of money and support as the number of families leaving the area increases annually.

Under the guidance of the teachers at Hedunuwewa, Bhante Sujatha collected items and donations for the school throughout the year to be delivered on a special day in July by himself and his friends.  On the day of the donation, the school held a brief and formal ceremony to appreciate the donors, followed by a day of sharing in which Bhante’s friends were the teachers for the day leading the classes!  Everyone was beaming by the end of the day and created memories to last a lifetime.
